American Veterans (AMVETS) is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally-chartered veterans service organization, representing the interests of 20 million veterans. AMVETS is open to and fighting for all who honorably served in the United States military, including the Reserve and Guard. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, we are veterans serving veterans. As one of America’s leading veterans service organizations for 75 years, AMVETS has a proud history of assisting veterans and sponsoring numerous programs that serve our country and its citizens.
AMVETS Mission Statement: To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.
We are the only Veteran Service Organization which takes a holistic approach to serving our veterans and their families.
Some of the ways we offer support or how you can get involved are:
HEAL (Healthcare, Evaluation, Advocacy, Legislation): leading the way in confronting mental health and access to Healthcare challenges for veterans
National Service Office Program: helping veterans and their spouses everywhere to receive benefits they deserve based upon their service
Career Center: connecting veterans and spouses to gainful employment
Reintegrating Warriors: empowers and equips veterans with success tools for reintegration
AMVETS Scholarships: help defray the cost of education for service members and family
Healing Heroes: helps families offset the costs medical expenses for hospitalized veterans
Americanism: cultivates our countries next generation of civic and military leaders. It is a patriotic program that offers schools and youth organizations as a resource for teaching children in kindergarten through 12th grade about their American heritage, civics and citizenship.
This is your chance to be a part of something special and forever woven into a bit of history #AMVETSFlagDay
