AMVETS National Commander Jan Brown Reacts to Recent VA OIG Report

Earning the trust of women veterans must be a demonstrated top priority in the new administration then just as it should have been all along.

WASHINGTON D.C. — AMVETS (American Veterans) National Commander Jan Brown released the following statement in response to findings in a Veteran Affairs Office of Inspector General’s report on senior VA officials’ response to a veteran’s sexual assault allegations:

Findings released today by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Inspector General outline a betrayal of the trust veterans put into the VA.

Every veteran, no matter gender, must be able to trust the VA and feel welcome in its facilities if our federal government is to keep its promises to our nation.

A new VA secretary is expected to be installed next month. Earning the trust of women veterans must be a demonstrated top priority in the new administration then just as it should have been all along.
