AMVETS Family NEC Meetings

The National Executive Committee (NEC) for AMVETS, the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, and the Sons of AMVETS meet in March every year, splitting time between Washington, D.C., and at the new AMVETS Family National Headquarters in Washington, PA. Other important meetings and events also take place at this time, including Legislative Advocacy Week (LAW) and a joint memorial service to honor national commanders and presidents who recently passed.

If you are traveling to Washington, D.C., for the Legislative Advocacy Week, please sign up using the form farther down this page. A link to the BWI Hilton hotel block ($169 per night) will be emailed to you.


AMVETS has room blocks with two hotels in Washington, PA, offering a special group rate of $110* per night. Breakfast, parking, and Wi-Fi access are included at both hotels.

The Hampton Inn by Hilton is located 1/4 of a mile from the new NHQ. The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriot is 5 miles from the NHQ but across the street from Meadowlands Casino & Racetrack and next to Tanger Outlets.

If you are flying into the recently remodeled Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), scroll down AFTER you've made your hotel reservations to sign up for a free shuttle from and back to the airport. Advance sign-up is required for the airport shuttle.

*Reservations must be made by February 9 for Hampton Inn or by February 13 for Fairfield Inn to take advantage of the discounted room rate ($110 per night).

If you are flying into Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) for the national meetings in March, AMVETS Family National Headquarters will provide free rides from and back to the airport.

Signing up here by March 1 is required to reserve a free ride.

Please tell NHQ when you're coming in and when you're heading home. You will receive an email confirmation when you submit and details by March 2.

The shuttle van doesn't have a lift. The shuttle will not run during major meetings & events at NHQ.

Advocate in DC

The AMVETS Family comes together every year on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., for Legislative Advocacy Week (LAW). This important mission must continue even with the NHQ being in Pennsylvania.

 

You may travel directly to the DC area, or you can catch a free coach bus from the new NHQ departing at 10 AM on March 11, returning to NHQ at 11 PM on March 13. Those coming to PA on March 10 should stay the night at the Hampton Inn.

The Sons of AMVETS secured a block of hotels rooms at a discounted rate ($169) and will provide buses from the hotel to Capitol Hill March 12 &13. A mandatory briefing will be held at 7 PM March 11 in the BWI Hilton.

Each voting member of the AMVETS National Executive Committee (NEC) is responsible for submitting a report for each Fall, Spring, and Pre-Convention NEC meeting. Please use the form at NEC REPORTS to submit yours no later than 30 DAYS PRIOR to the meeting. Alternatively, you may email your report to media@amvets.org.
