Keys to the Position: 

  1. Technical:  Windows or Linux OS, Amazon platform, The Cloud, Networking, Web Servers (i.e. Apache, Tomcat) and databases.
  2. Excellent communication skills.
  3. This individual will help Client migrate over to the Amazon platform. 

Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering (any field), or a related field of study is preferred but not required.  Five to seven years (5-7) of relevant experience in systems engineering or a related occupation working with Microsoft Windows or linux, and either shell or power shell scripting is preferred.  Two to three years (2-3)Experience working with Amazon Web Services.

Experience should include:

  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts such as change control and problem and incident management
  • Five years of experience supporting a Linux or Windows based operating system including tuning and patching as well as an understanding of active directory components
  • Experience with process automation to reduce complexity and risk of manual processes
  • Exposure to backup and recovery concepts for servers and databases
  • Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services and its components including, Cloud formation, EC2, S3, RDS, EBS, ELB.  Hands on experience is a plus
  • Hands on experience with sql, shell scripting languages such as shell or power shell, exposure to python and javascript is a plus
  • Hands on experience with Database platforms such as Oracle or MS SQLserver is a plus
  • Familiarity with the use of Tomcat and Apache for deploying basic applications
  • The engineer is required to have experience providing 24/7 technical support for global users.


We are seeking a systems engineer to perform engineering functions as part of  Client & Enterprise Technology team.  The engineer will work across the application stack, including the operating systems, application middleware components, databases and load balancing.  The systems engineer will assist application teams to provide resilient and scalable applications and databases while maintaining the current internal virtual server platform.  The engineer will also work directly with application teams to migrate applications to the Amazon platform.  All of Client’s applications rely on the systems engineer to tune the environment and ensure that all components are healthy and optimizing them for the maximum performance.  The team provides 24/7/365 support for applications which facilitate global business processes critical to the operation of the Firm.

Specific responsibilities will include design, implementation, deployment, and support efforts for window, linux, and Amazon Web Services, all of which are directly related to application and database platforms.  The engineer will provide formal plans to upgrade components of the platform and execute the plans with assistance from others on the team.  The engineer will also perform gap analysis as it applies to the application stacks for the purpose of formulating plans to mitigate and fill gaps that pose risk to the uptime and security of applications required by the business.
