Qualifications: Construction Services is seeking an industrious individual who shares our goal to deliver excellent customer services and who recognizes the importance of personal responsibility, to join Van Nest Shops. Must understand the vital importance of teamwork, communication and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values and Mission. Must be flexible to handle multiple work assignments, changing priorities, and able to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. To be eligible for this position, candidate must High School Diploma/GED with 5 years’ of relevant technical experience and knowledge is required; Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years relevant technical experience and knowledge is preferred. Must possess good oral and written communication skills and able to effectively interact with customers, union personnel and various levels of management. Candidate must have knowledge of welding, machine shop equipment fundamentals and mechanical rotating equipment apparatus such as pumps, motors, valves etc. Must have the ability to read and interpret layouts and engineering drawings. Must have good computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Maximo and familiarity with Microsoft project or related software and work management systems and project management skills is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred Responsibilities: Will supervise weekly personnel around the system and ensure that all work is performed in accordance with procedures that govern the work. On a daily basis the supervisor is responsible for the safety of his or her direct reports and must monitor quality, productivity and provide feedback that will help individuals progress in their title. Must ensure that the Human Performance Improvements (HPI) tools are incorporated into daily work. Responsible for conducting “On the Job Training (OJT)”, effective job briefings, documented safety inspections and ensures all personnel attend training as required. Must be committed to fostering a Zero Accident Culture, Diversity and Inclusion, Achieving Operational Excellence, Developing an effective Cost Management Culture and Enhancing the Customer Experience. Must be committed to the Way We Work Principles and adherence to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S).
Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Position requires working in all types of weather conditions and may involve extensive walking and climbing, bending and stooping and working in confined areas. Must be able to wear all protective equipment on field visits (including respirator, where needed).
