The Planner is responsible for evaluating all material related Planning activities needed to meet clinical, commercial, and process development manufacturing requirements.  The principal objective of the Planner is to evaluate and execute the immediate pending needs of the manufacturing schedule and report/coordinate deliveries to supported departments.  The planner also provides data and support to management for decision making as appropriate.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Planning / Scheduling

  • Manage material requirements planning for multiple manufacturing facilities and multiple products.
  • Generate schedule scenarios to provide management with the necessary information needed to formulate decisions on various schedule changes (i.e. NPI's, forecast adjustments, SLA's, changeovers, PM's, etc)
  • Assist with managing level loading of material requirements to supply material to various receiving departments.
  • Execute / monitor MRP calculations.
  • Perform data analysis to support decision making around raw material supply and bulk drug substance demand.
  • Create and manage required Bills of Material, Production Orders, and Production Routings.
  • Participate in required meetings to assist in coordination of production / campaign schedules with Manufacturing and PD.
  • Review, propose, and aide in implementation of solutions related to the "MRP to consumption" flow of materials from receipt to issuance; including release testing and material disposition.
  • Assist in lifecycle management process to optimize inventory, eliminate material expiry, and reduce scrap.

 

ERP / Metrics

  • Support all Planning related to ERP system master data.
  • Participate and support all ERP system changes or new implementations.

 

Project / Other

  • Act as a change agent for OE or continuous improvement efforts to include but not limited to SOP implementation/revisions, department specific metrics, and inventory related data activities.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Intermediate knowledge of MRP, database management, inventory planning and forecasting, and product structures.
  • Must be organized, possess time management skills, and be able to manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to develop processes and act as a catalyst for change.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of planning experience, with pharma or biotech experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  APICS certification a plus (CPIM, CFPIM, or CSCP).
  • Intermediate knowledge with ERP / MRP systems.
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other team members to provide solutions and manage change within the organization
  • Experience communicating to all levels of the organization- to effectively communication assignment status, manufacturing or material issues both orally and written.
