Core Responsibilities

  • The Procurement Specialist/Senior Procurement Specialist manages a supply chain for CECONY and/or ORU that is comprised of technical or complex procurements for material, services, and construction and maintenance of underground and overhead gas, steam and electric transmission facilities, electric and steam generating facilities, and associated corporate and environmental services that ensures high availability and quality at the lowest possible total cost to the company.
  • Works closely with internal business representatives, engineers, and EH&S to satisfy pending requests or to determine long-term needs, demand reduction opportunities and to resolve complex or repetitive commercial issues.
  • Responsible to achieve corporate savings, budget, business plans and supplier diversity expenditure goals.
  • Utilizes and or handles complex procurements using the end to end sourcing process; including developing RFQ's, performing supplier bid evaluations, negotiations and supplier relationship management.
  • Responsible to drive and demonstrate competence of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concept to reduce costs.
  • Responsible for the development of a category plan using benchmarks, spend analysis and market intelligence.
  • Identifies and facilitates the implementation of supply chain process improvement initiatives.
  • Accountable for category savings targets and performance measures.
  • Demonstrates excellent writing skills while preparing: 1. Procurement summaries; 2. Request for Authorization to Purchase; and 3. Any other written communications including but not limited to emails.
  • Performs other related assignments as required by Senior Management.

Required Education/Experience

  • Associate's Degree And 4 years work related experience. Procurement Specialist, 1H Or
  • Bachelor's Degree And 2 years work related experience. Procurement Specialist, 1H Or
  • Associate's Degree And 5 years procurement or work related experience. Sr. Procurement Specialist, 2L Or
  • Bachelor's Degree And 4 years procurement or work related experience. Sr. Procurement Specialist, 2L

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree And 2 years procurement or work related experience. Sr. Procurement Specialist, 2L

Required Work Experience

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Products. Required
  • Knowledge of Oracle Preferred
  • Strong Project management, negotiation and analytical skills Preferred
  • Sr. Procurement Specialist - Supervisory Experience Pref

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be willing and able to travel within Company service territory and supplier locations, some of which may require overnight travel.
  • Candidate must be available to perform off-hour emergency buyer functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to participate in the Company's emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
