Title: Accountant 1H Organization: Corporate Accounting Department: Cost and Project Accounting Job Code: 17-0876

Qualifications: Corporate Accounting seeks to hire a highly motivated individual to join its Cost Accounting Department. The successful candidate for the Accountant position will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with a minimum of 2-3 years of accounting/finance/audit/business experience. Must have excellent communication and analytical skills and the ability to work effectively with others. Proficiency in MS Office products is also required. Strong presentation skills. Familiarity with Oracle Financials and Business Intelligence, utility accounting, accounting for derivatives, and the preparation of financial statements on a regulatory (FERC) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) basis and an overall knowledge of GAAP are preferred. Responsibilities: The selected candidate will perform functions necessary to maintain and update the accounting books and records, and prepare various accounting or financial related data such as: journal entry, FERC reporting, account reconciliation, and authority letter. In addition, the candidate will manage the inventory accounting process, to ensure inventory transactions are accurately record in our general ledger and resolves any discrepancy variance between the sub ledgers to the general ledger. Also, he/she may assist the supervisor in the supervision, control and follow-up of other department activities and in his/her absence may supervise union personnel and assist other department personnel as required. Under the direction of the senior accountant or section manager, reviews work of the group for accuracy and compliance with Company procedures and identifies any problems affecting internal control where applicable. Independently performs research and analyses. Assist in operation and control of various department systems/software, including updating, training, maintenance or modifications where applicable. Learn new systems and technology as required. Instruct, guide and inform new employees as to the requirements of their assigned jobs. Has the ability to work with both internal and external auditor for audit inquiry. Review relative accounting, tax, or regulatory laws, decisions and opinions to keep informed of changes as they apply to position or area of responsibility.
