Commander Browns
Congressional Testimony
April 3, 2008
AMVETS National Commander John P. “JP” Brown III will deliver testimony to a special joint session of the Senate and House Committees on Veterans’ Affairs on Thursday, April 3.
Cmdr. Brown will discuss AMVETS’ push to overhaul the current GI Bill and efforts improve care for our veterans. As the budget process for FY2009 ramps up, AMVETS will take a strong stance on adequately funding the VA. Political posturing over the last few years has often left the VA underfunded, leaving our veterans without their entitled benefits.
Cmdr. Brown will also stress the importance of veterans’ education in the wake of this week’s VA report citing unacceptable rates of unemployment among veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
AMVETS, founded in 1944, is one of the nation’s leading Congressionally-chartered veterans’ service organizations. AMVETS provides a wide range of support to veterans and the community, with members from all branches of the military, including the National Guard and Reserves. To learn more, visit www.amvets.org.
