AMVETS Responds To VA Inspector General Report on Travel Controversy

AMVETS National Headquarters, Feb. 14, 2018– The Department of Veterans Affairs, the agency that has made “accountability” the hallmark of its reform agenda, now faces a major test. The public should be concerned any time the conduct or judgment of a high-level public official is called into question.

VA Secretary Dr. David Shulkin has been tremendously effective at turning VA in the right direction, and allegations such as these are inconsistent with his words and deeds during his tenure with the department. AMVETS is calling upon the White House to ensure the VA follows through on its inspector general’s recommendations to prevent any further breaches of public trust.

AMVETS is the nation’s most inclusive Congressionally-chartered veterans service organization. It is open to and fights for all veterans who served honorably, including reservists & guardsmen. AMVETS has been a nonpartisan advocate for veterans and their families for more than 70 years. amvets.org
