2018 Winners of the National Scholarship Program

AMVETS National Headquarters and the National Programs department would like to offer our heartfelt congratulations to the winners of AMVETS 2018 scholarships. Every year, we receive very impressive candidates and this year is no different. Our judges were overwhelmed by the talent and achievements demonstrated by each finalist.

For the children and grandchildren of veterans, these are the winners and their home state:

  • Hannah Wohlford of Virginia
  • Samuel Rathe of Nebraska
  • Mitchell Nee of Washington state
  • Cody Miller of Florida
  • Johnathan Melton, Jr. of New Jersey
  • Viancourt Cullen of Ohio
  • Emma Langenbacher of California, is the recipient of the $1,000 scholarship for graduating JROTC students.

    Veterans who have been selected to receive four-year scholarships are:

  • Jeremey McNeely of Florida
  • Tami Koletsky of Maryland
  • Dymekea Bellamy of Washington, D.C.
  • For the Huestis Memorial Scholarship of $1,000, the selected recipient is Jennifer Arambula.

    The Caccomo Memorial Scholarship is in memory of and honoring Dr. Aurelio M. Caccomo, who immigrated from Rome to the United States in the 1950’s and became a physician, orthopedic surgeon, and Army Reservist. He served his adopted country in the Special Forces and retired as a Colonel. Dr. Caccomo spent the last fifteen year of his life serving at the University of Illinois in Chicago under the Department of Orthopedics and establishing his Family Foundation, which provides these meaningful and impactful scholarships for our veterans.

    The 2018 recipients for the Dr. Aurelio Caccomo Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Derrick Combs of Kansas City, Missouri
  • Nathan Derge of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
  • Thank you for all those who applied as well as the judges who volunteered their time to assist in awarding these scholarships.
